City to help 30 more improve storefronts
Another 30 or so business will be getting facade upgrades under an expansion of Mayor Luke Ravenstahl’s “Storefront Renovation Program.”
City Council today voted to transfer $150,000 to the Urban Redevelopment Authority, which administers the program.
“Restored and improved storefronts have proven to attract more customers, enhance the pedestrian environment, and encourage additional development and investment,” Mr. Ravenstahl said.
Mr. Ravenstahl launched the program in 2007. So far, the program has spent $248,261 for upgrades at 52 businesses citywide.
Council’s transfer of $150,000 will allow about 30 more businesses to receive upgrades. About 20 of those projects already are in the planning stage.
